Job Description

The data team has grown from 1 Business Intelligence Analyst to 4 members in the past year. The vision, mission, and scope of the team have grown from on-demand reporting to high-scale data management platform engineering. The resulting systems will be the cornerstone to push Flowdesk activity to the next level.

It will enable the development of in-house data products and improve the performances of both tech and trading daily operations.

Due to the timelines nature of our operations as well as the high volume of data processed, the team implemented complex systems addressing efficiently high throughput low latency streaming use cases. We need to reinforce our expertise with individual contributors who have a proven track record implementing distributed streaming systems to help us optimize, scale, and maintain these systems.

Requirements

Role and responsibilities

The Sr Data Engineer will work on the maintenance and optimization of our streaming stack. This means

  • Developing new features for the components (NATS, RisingWave, Clickhouse).
  • Defining testing scenarios for optimizing the configurations of the streaming systems.
  • Designing and implementing advanced real-time data processing pipelines.
  • Implementing alerting systems and automatic recovery procedures.

Background and experience

  • Experience in message broker technologies (e.g. Kafka, NATS, Pub/Sub, Kinesis).
  • Experience in container orchestration (Kubernetes/GKE) and deployment (e.g. Helm, FluxCD).
  • Knowledge in distributed systems (i.e. high availability, failure recovery, coordination, snapshotting, and checkpointing…).
  • Experience in time-series oriented real-time OLAP systems is a plus
