Job Description

The data team has grown from 1 BI analyst to 4 members in the past year. The team's vision, mission, and scope have expanded from bespoke reporting to high-scale data management platform engineering. The resulting systems will be the stateful computation powerhouse that will push Flowdesk business and trading operations to the next level.

We are seeking a Data Engineer to lead the development and implementation of diverse data systems for both our back and front offices. In this role, you will focus on designing, automating, and maintaining code and processes to ensure the consistency, accuracy and reliability of the data flowing in our systems.

Your expertise will help us build confidence in our data and enhance its value across the organization.

Your mission will be to

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to identify data quality requirements and align data processes with business needs.
  • Design and implement both batch and streaming data pipelines for internal analytics back-office analytics and front-office data products.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure frictionless back-and-forth communication between analytical and front or back-office systems.
  • Create automated checks and alerts to provide stakeholders with both visibility into data quality and means to proactively identify and resolve data quality issues.

Requirements

Background and experience

  • 3+ years of proven experience in data engineering (data extraction, transformation, modelling, infrastructure).
  • Familiarity with CICD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes and big data technologies (Clickhouse or distributed systems is a plus).
  • Experience with data processing, modelling and warehousing technologies such as standard SQL, dbt and BigQuery (Clickhouse is a plus). 
  • Fluency in Python programming language and paradigms such as OOP, functional programming (low-level and/or strongly typed languages is a plus).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to vulgarize technical concepts and summarize findings in a concise way.
